When you look outside and see snow on the ground, it can be hard to believe that spring is almost here. Nevertheless, warmer days and the fragrance of blooms and flowers will soon arrive, and we couldn’t be more excited.
Uxbridge residents really do have much to look forward to as we get ready to turn another page on the calendar. A host of community events happen every year, and we are here for it all. In this post, we’ll highlight a few festivities that are just around the corner.

Uxbridge Farmers’ Market
The Cindy Wood Team loves Uxbridge Farmers’ Market so much that we became one of its primary sponsors for opening day! The indoor markets start early, usually in February, allowing Uxbridge residents to browse a selection of locally grown produce and beautiful, one-of-a-kind hand-crafted items. It’s all great fun, and it’s just a preview of many great things on the way!
The real festivities kick in once the weather warms up. Every Sunday from May to October, local farmers and artisans get together to share the delicious fruits of their labour. This event began small, yet has now grown into an award-winning market with approximately 50 vendors.
The Farmer’s Market isn’t just a place to shop for gourmet treats, fresh produce, or baked goods. You can also enjoy live music and several fun activities to keep the kids busy. You might even be able to snag some free raffle tickets to win a prize put together by the vendors. Well-behaved and leashed dogs are also welcome with open arms, or should we say, open paws?
What else is on the calendar in Uxbridge? Check out a few of our favourite fall and winter events in the posts below:
Sunderland Maple Syrup Festival
Few things are more Canadian than maple syrup, and we are thrilled to be so close to one of the most exciting events to celebrate this sweet treat! The Sunderland Maple Syrup Festival allows you to sample “liquid gold” from local producers. In between tastings, you can enjoy activities like pony rides, a petting zoo, live performances, not to mention the hilarious and much beloved bathtub race.
If you haven’t yet had the honour, contestants are divided up into teams that race in real bathtubs outfitted with wheels. One teammate “drives” the bathtub while the others push, all in the hopes of beating out other teams to the finish line. It’s a whole lot of silliness, and plenty of laughs always ensue, so everyone wins no matter who scores first place.
Elgin Pond – Huck Finn Youth Fishing
April kicks off the fishing season, and enthusiasts will be thrilled to know that there is no fee and no registration required to cast your net at Elgin Pond. There are great prizes to be won just for participating, either by fishing or through the monthly colouring contests.
While out on the boat, a friendly by-law officer might reward you with a free worm voucher or fishing discount coupon. There are so many ways to win; if you hook the big one, even better.
Strawberry Festival
Though located at the Uxbridge Farmer’s Market, the annual Strawberry Festival deserves its own shout out. Tons of sweet berries await, in whatever form you love best, whether it’s in a pie, a jam, pureed into a refreshing beverage, or fresh from the local fields.
Merchandise includes crocheted strawberries from talented artisans, and the celebrations will also be accompanied by live music, a scavenger hunt, and prizes.
Springtide Music Festival
The Uxbridge Music Hall is one of our most cherished historic landmarks. It’s also the focal point of the Springtide Music Festival, an event music lovers eagerly await every year!
For three days, the downtown core essentially transforms into a giant concert circuit. Every year brings a new and exciting lineup, with a multitude of artists appearing across stages in every genre you can imagine. Past performances have included Juno-winning acts like Dizzy, The East Pointers, and the Good Lovelies.

Leaskdale Loop
By now, most Uxbridge residents are rejoicing and eagerly anticipating the return of “Loop Days,” also known as the self-guided tours of the Leaskdale Loop. These begin in mid-June, taking you through some of our top attractions and points of interest.
Along the way, you’ll get to explore some historical sites, as well as indulge in some delicious food. There’s much to admire, but the spectacular scenery takes the centre stage as always. Newcomers are often mesmerized by the amount of picturesque beauty Uxbridge offers.
As long-time residents, we can assure you that the sights and experiences never get old. All of these events, along with the incredible community spirit they embody, are why we couldn’t be more thrilled to call Uxbridge our home.
