A Focus on Health and Community
Quality healthcare and an elevated lifestyle go hand in hand. This is true for families and young professionals with their whole lives before them. It’s even more critical for downsizers and retirees who want to make the most of their non-working years.
Uxbridge has always been known for its strong community focus, and the township works diligently to expand access to vital services for all residents. The current hospital offers an Emergency Department, 20 in-patient beds, and a comprehensive roster of diagnostic services.
Residents can also find a vast range of professional care through the town directory, including practitioners such as chiropractors, physiotherapists, osteopaths, and more.

Ever Expanding Access
Never one to settle for “good enough,” the Township of Uxbridge pushes for excellence! Healthcare is already relatively accessible compared to other places in Ontario. And we’re working hard to make it even more so.
To start with, the Family Medicine Teaching Unit (FMTU) acts as a go-between the Oak Valley Health (Uxbridge Hospital), the Uxbridge Health Centre and the University of Toronto to bring medical residents to Uxbridge. These residents are then able to set up their own clinics and offer primary care to an estimated 600 patients over the course of two years.

The Impact on Uxbridge Real Estate
Over the years, Uxbridge has been quietly gaining popularity for people relocating from larger cities and surrounding towns. The development of the new hospital is likely to increase the already growing demand.
It’s not just that excellent healthcare makes the community more desirable. Think of the snowball effect on the entire community that stems from such a massive undertaking.
Development is set to begin in the spring of 2027, with plans for the new hospital to open its doors in 2029/30 This will cause an increased demand for both long-term and short-term housing.
- To start with, any construction workers from out of town may require temporary residence.
- There will be a greater need for housing with more healthcare workers moving into the area. Properties within walking distance or a short drive of the hospital could potentially gain in value as many staff and residents will want to live close by.
- Over the long term, the new Uxbridge Hospital could also have a positive impact on other industries, creating greater demand for more commercial and residential spaces.
