Uxbridge’s location on the Oak Ridges Moraine makes it one of the most scenic places in all of the GTA, which led to the official designation the “Trail Capital of Canada.”
The gorgeous scenery has also made Uxbridge a popular choice for filmmakers and TV producers. In fact, many scenes from the popular show “Road to Avonlea” were filmed here. The hall still showcases a variety of dramatic, comedic, musical, and stand-up performances. It’s also one of the rare places where you can see the official coat of arms for the Town of Uxbridge.
The Leaskdale Manse National Historic Site is yet another iconic landmark. The legendary story of Anne of Green Gables initially came to life in Prince Edward Island, but subsequent adventures were written in Uxbridge. This site was once the home of famed author Lucy Maud Montgomery, who resided here from 1911 to 1926.
As the site of the highly anticipated annual Uxbridge Fall Fair, Elgin Park has also carved out a place in Uxbridge’s fascinating and ever-evolving history. Of course, this expansive and picturesque green space is beautiful to visit any time of year.
Uxbridge Hospital
Almost nothing puts our township on the map like the New Uxbridge Hospital. Healthcare is top of mind for many people moving into the area.
This new facility will ensure greater capacity, expanded services, and enhanced access for emergency and ambulatory care. There’s even going to be a permanent helipad located on the rooftop! Cindy Wood, serves on the Uxbridge Hospital Foundation.

The morning after, the streets were alive with residents and volunteers armed with chainsaws, clearing trees and debris from neighbourhoods. It wasn’t just individuals, either. Local organizations such as the 1st Uxbridge Scouts rushed to help so that life could get back to normal.
No matter what comes our way, one thing is inevitable: our beloved town will emerge stronger than ever. Our indomitable community spirit doesn’t just emerge during challenging times.
Various organizations and groups work together to create a dynamic lifestyle all year long. Sometimes, this means we’re engaging in a friendly hockey tournament with retired NHL superstars to raise money for the Uxbridge Hospital Foundation. Other times, we’re arranging community walks through the Uxbridge Countryside Preserve or hosting holiday-themed celebrations.
